Beer drinkers everywhere, rejoice! A new study reveals that alcohol actually may help you learn to speak a second language.
Alcohol has a way of lowering inhibitions (and standards, it seems) so it’s really no surprise that that may help with speaking a foreign language. With less worry over how one sounds or getting it just right, perhaps a little booze a day really will keep the inhibitions away?
According to the Journal of Psychopharmacology, just under one pint of 5% alcohol beer could help one improve one’s language skills. So, to answer your question, no…you’re not being encouraged to get hammered.
Researchers of the study said in a statement, “our study shows acute alcohol consumption may have benefits on pronunciation of foreign language in people who recently learned that language.”
