It’s a great day to be an Amazon Prime member!
A week ahead of the DC Comics highly anticipated “Aquaman” premiere in the United States, Amazon will offer an opportunity to see the film on the big screen. Amazon is reportedly working with theater chains such as Regal Cinemas, Cinepolis, ArcLight, and more for limited Aquaman screenings on Dec. 15, and tickets will be sold exclusively to Amazon Prime members.
Reactions from Aquaman have been positive so far. Some have even praised director James Wan’s film for being a fun superhero romp, while another online critic claimed it’s “an aquarium crossed with an MMA match.”
For those who are familiar with the trailers, the movie teases a war brewing between Atlantis and the surface world.
The Amazon Prime early screenings of “Aquaman” will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 at select theaters. The movie officially opens in all theaters on Dec. 21, and on the 20th for the Thursday night previews.
This is not the first time Amazon has offered early screenings to its Prime members. The online retailer previously offered similar screenings for “Hotel Transylvania 3” and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.”
In addition to the advance Amazon Prime screenings, “Aquaman” will be having a global tour of special events that kicks off Sunday, Nov. 18 in Beijing, and wrapping up on Dec. 21 in Hawaii.
