If you’re a fan of Korean dramas, then you’ll certainly know of the highly loved K-Drama series, “Strong Girl Bong Soon.” The 2017 drama starred Park Bo Young, who played Do Bong Soon, a woman who appears frail on the outside, but secretly has superhuman strength.
The series was a commercial hit when it first premiered and went on to become one of the highest rated Korean dramas in cable television history.
Now, it seems that American television want to capitalize on the successful drama because The CW will be making a remake of the show for American viewers. The broadcast company will be adapting the drama with a shortened title of Strong Girl, and will also implement some changes to the storyline to suit the audience.
In the K-Drama version, Do Bong Soon was an aspiring game-designer who is discovered by Park Hyung Sik‘s character, after he witnesses her supernatural powers fighting evil. He hires her on as a personal bodyguard, but a romantic relationship soon blossoms.
In the U.S. adaption, the story will follow a former war photographer named Rayna, who discovers she is indestructible and may be the strongest woman in the world. After suffering heartbreak from her Special Operatives fiancé, who finds her powers too much to bear, Rayna is hired by a billionaire named Oliver as his bodyguard.
As of right now, there is no release date, but the project has already gone into development, meaning that it should eventually air on The CW.
