Disney Rake In Billions With New ‘Avengers’
Disney and Marvel are on a roll this year with the release of just one epic film. “Avengers: Endgame” has reached a new milestone in the worldwide box office, becoming the fastest film ever to earn more than $2 billion, and has become the second-biggest film release ever, as reported by Deadline.
Opening weekend alone saw a jaw-dropping $1.2 billion earning across the world, surpassing the box office totals of “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and even “Titanic.” “Avatar” currently holds the highest grossing total, sitting at $2.7 billion.
Endgame has earned $620 million at the domestic box office, becoming the 9th biggest title ever in North America. Overseas, it has amassed $1.56 billion, with $575 million of that total coming from China.
Marvel’s 11-year, 22-film franchise began back in 2008 with “Iron Man,” and has steadily developed its characters and story since. But Endgame does not mean Marvel is done with the franchise yet: its fourth Phase will kick off after “Spider-man: Far From Home,” which hits theaters this summer, and the studios has at least 20 films in development for the next decade.
