Beyond Meat in bulk at Costco coming soon
Beyond Burger fans can now get their hands on the plant-based products in bulk. Beyond Meat will begin selling its fake meat burgers at Costco for the first time.
A pack will consist of eight patties for $14.99. Typically, they are sold in packs of two for about $6.
However, not every Costco location will carry Beyond Meat; the plant-based burgers will only be available in select stores, according to their parent company.
Beyond Meat has been expanding its territory significantly this year, from being sold at Dunkin’ Donuts as a Beyond Meat breakfast sandwich in 9,000 stores nationally to becoming a new chicken alternative for KFC in Georgia.
Aside from coming in patty form, Beyond Meat also comes in sausage form and is sold at retailers like Walmart, Target, and Publix.
As more and more people search for meat substitutes, other competitors have entered the market. Kroger is planning on launching its own line of plant-based substitutes and is currently testing out its plant-based protein section in the meat aisle at select stores. Nestle is now selling the Awesome Burger, a plant-based patty that looks and tastes like meat, and Kellogg has an Incogmeato brand of plant-based foods.
Costco’s partnership with Beyond Meat could prove to be a huge success, especially now that meatless eaters can buy the products in bulk.
