Broadway’s “Frozen” Turns Political

A Broadway performance of Disney’s Frozen turned political after a Donald Trump supporter decided to turn the kid-friendly show into a political curtain call. One of the show’s actors snatched a “Trump 2020” flag from an audience member’s hands. The incident occurred while the cast took bows after last Wednesday night’s performance when a front-row audience member sporting a “Make America Great Again” visor decided to wave a “Trump 2020” flag.

Timothy Hughes, who plays Pabbie the troll in the Broadway adaptation of the blockbuster Disney musical, was having absolutely none of it, and ripped the flag out of the viewer’s hands and threw it backstage.

Hughes later explained his intervention on Instagram and refused to apologize to the “disrespectful man trying to interrupt this moment with a pathetic political platform.”

“What does it say about our country and politics when a man at the show tonight felt the need to protest Disney’s Frozen on Broadway with a pro Trump flag??” Hughes wrote in the caption. “How frightening is it that our show’s messages of love, acceptance, and diversity have become the opposition to supporting Trump? The curtain call is a thank you between actors and audience, a final connection to end a shared experience. I will not apologize for how I responded to the disrespectful man trying to interrupt this moment with a pathetic political platform. Not at our show! Not in front of my beautiful, diverse, talented cast at @frozenbroadway. I appreciate everyone’s support.”

After the video of Hughes snatching the flag away went viral, tons of fans shared their thoughts on Twitter, thanking the actor for his actions.
