Bruno, a real life Totoro, has made national headlines for being “extra” and very fat. Bruno caught the attention of the nation after photos of him were posted on an adoption page.
Bruno has a skill for walking on his hind legs and is described as “a chatty kitty.” He meows a lot and likes to be pet while eating. He is also considered to be high maintenance, making him an “extra” cat.
Wright-Way Animal Rescue in Morton Grove announced last week that Bruno was looking to be adopted. The 7-year-old polydactyl cat tips the scale at 25 pounds.
Since his photos went viral, on Facebook and Twitter, applications to adopt Bruno poured in from across the country, Canada and even Australia.
“I like when you scratch the sides of my face and neck. I like to be pet on the top of my head and spine only. I know my tummy is so tempting to touch, but I would prefer if you didn’t. I may swat my hand and pretend to bite if you do,” says Bruno in a post on Facebook. “I like to talk to you….a LOT. Be prepared for a chatty kitty! I have a couple quirky traits too….For one, I like to stand on my hind legs! This usually happens when I want food. No, my foster parents did not teach me this. They are not sure how I learned. Second, I love to be pet while I eat.”
“I also drink a lot of water. I never drink the water in the kitchen where my food is. I only drink the water that was put in a completely different room,” he continues. “Yes, I know I am EXTRA.”
After many applications, one equally “extra” lady finally got approved to adopt Bruno. Chicago-based actress and singer Lauren Paris knew the fat cat was the one for her. To really make her application stand out, she recorded herself singing an original song and provided a recommendation from her boss, a letter of intent and footage of her apartment.
