California Will Be Celebrating Star Wars This Weekend
There’s even more reason to say “May the 4th be with you,” as the statement is now backed with a state resolution.
On Thursday, May 2, the California Legislature declared May 4 Star Wars Day in celebration of Disneyland’s upcoming attraction, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The theme park is slated to open later this month, and fans cannot help but contain their excitement for the new Disney experience.
The saying “May the 4th be with you” is a spin on the popular Star Wars phrase “May the force be with you,” and is a popular pop culture reference used by Star Wars fans across the world.
The California resolution was authored by Democratic Assemblyman Tom Daly, and in the resolution, it says that Anaheim, where Disneyland is located, will benefit from Galaxy’s Edge by getting “at least $14 million more in tax revenues per year.” The expansion will also create 1,400 permanent jobs, according to the resolution.
Making Star Wars Day and actual thing commends the Disneyland Resort and Walk Disney Company for their long-time years of service and enhancement of the quality of life for people living in California.
So whip out your lightsaber and join the dark or light side because tomorrow is officially Star Wars Day and you won’t want to miss out on the festivities.
