Breaking her longtime social media silence, Demi Lovato made her voice heard on Election Day.
As millions of Americans headed to their neighborhood poll station, the pop singer returned to social media with an important message for her fans and followers. In her first post since leaving rehab and her heartfelt message back in August, Demi shared a picture from an undisclosed polling location showing the star about to cast her vote.
“I am so grateful to be home in time to vote!” Lovato wrote to her 70 million Instagram followers. “One vote can make a difference, so make sure your voice is heard! Now go out and #VOTE!!!!”
Within 25 minutes, close to 1.5 million people “liked” the post. Some of the singer’s famous friends also expressed their support for the talented singer.
Lovato was previously hospitalized for 10 days following a drug overdose in her Hollywood Hills home. The pop star later came clean about her drug use in the somber August note before telling her fans she needed time to “heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery.”
Lovato’s sister, Madison De La Garza, recently told the “Millennial Hollywood” podcast that Demi was well on the way to recovery, saying, “Demi’s doing really well. She’s working really hard on her sobriety and we’re all so incredibly proud of her.”
