K-pop fans should hold on to their seats because Dua Lipa has announced her collaboration with K-pop girl group BLACKPINK. Dua Lipa is a top pop star in the United States, but with the rise of the Korean wave, it seems she is looking to tap into K-pop with her newest album.
The singer confirmed a super deluxe edition of her debut album is going live, and it will feature a special song with the famous K-pop act. Dua Lipa tweeted “So excited to release a super deluxe edition of my album on October 19th with 3 NEW SONGS!! Think of this as a little gift to wrap up this album cycle! 🎁 Thank you for all the love and support.”
YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s company, also confirmed the collaboration news to Billboard.
The new song, titled “Kiss and Make Up,” will be the first international collaboration for the K-pop girl group, who made history earlier this year when their Square Up album and single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” became the first highest-charting songs from a Korean female act on Stateside Billboard charts.
After announcing the news on Twitter, Dua Lipa later thanked fans for their endless support, but also expressed sadness about the end of one version of Dua Lipa.
“I’m so happy that you guys are happy!” she tweeted. “I was very excited about thiiis but also sad bc it’s coming to an end. But also happy bc new music and new era!!”
