Yes you read that correctly; Fendi was selling a $990 pink fur scarf on its website that resembled female genitals. Because the weather is getting colder and the demand for warm winter clothing is back, luxury designers have been coming out with alternative — and in this case, unique — options for consumers.
Fendi recently designed a $990 pink circle scarf printed with the brand’s signature logo and lined with brown fur. Called the “Touch of Fur,” the scarf is available in blue and red, but online shoppers became fixated on the pink version that’s no longer available on the website.
Fendi’s website describes the scarf as a “shawl made in a soft blend of silk and wool in tones of pink.” However, Twitter users mocked the pink design and said it resembles a vulva.
So many people took to Twitter to make fun of the scarf and left comical jokes and comments about the design. Some Twitter users on the other hand, didn’t mind the appearance of Fendi’s scarf, but had an issue with the brand’s use of real fur. There were comments about how Fendi’s use of real fox fur for the scarf was wrong and “Neanderthal-chic.”
After conitnual mocking from Internet users, the scarf has been removed from Fendi’s website and has disappeared from the websites of other major retailers who carry the brand.
