It seems we have a lot of great movies to look forward to, especially movies about famous musicians — first Queen and now Elton John. Paramount Pictures unveiled a fabulous first image of Taron Egerton all glammed up as the legendary Elton John from the upcoming feature film, “Rocketman.” But now, fans have a fabulous first movie trailer to get them even more hyped.
Taking its name from John’s world-famous 1972 single “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long, Long Time”)” from the “Honky Château” album, the movie goes back in time to tell the story of the now 71-year-old’s rising stardom as an award-winning musician.
“Rocketman” is described as more of a musical fantasy story than a biopic, centering on Elton John’s early years in the music business. The movie a retelling of John’s life and career from his time at the Royal Academy of Music to his rise to fame, his struggles with drug addiction, and his partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Taron Egerton, 28, will be playing the role of Elton John. Dexter Fletcher, who worked with Egerton on 2016’s “Eagle the Eagle” and made headlines for replacing Bryan Singer on the Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” is directing the film.
Paramount is set to release “Rocketman” on May 31, 2019.
