In our latest Ask a Dev video, Android’s Ajay Pall discusses how to implement the newly announced Material Design.
With all the recent news about Android L and Material Design, you’d probably think they were two things that can’t exist without the other. However, it’s important to distinguish that Material is a design philosophy and L is a release of Android.
One example is Google’s I/O 2014 application. On pre-L devices, it keeps a very similar look and feel, without some of the bells and whistles that come with the L version. The source for this is worth researching, though, as it shows techniques on how to support features on L, all the while keeping compatibility with pre-L releases.
