Las Vegas police have released name and photograph of the suspect in the homicide that occurred outside of a nail salon on Dec. 29.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released surveillance footage regarding a murder committed by 21-year-old Krystal Whipple. Whipple had attempted to drive off from the nail salon without paying the $35 fee for her manicure, running the victim, 51-year old salon owner Ngoc Q. Nguyen, over with her car.
The surveillance footage features an introduction and narration by Lt. Ray Spencer of the LVPD Homicide Section.
“I’m coming to you today with a plea for assistance in solving a recent case involving the death of a local woman outside a nail salon,” Spencer says.
The mug shot provided was taken after an arrest for various traffic offenses in April 2018. Whipple was previously arrested in 2016 in connection to a stolen vehicle as well as on charges related to usage of credit card without card holder’s consent.
Nguyen was taken to University Medical Center Trauma and eventually pronounced dead. Nguyen, mother of 3, is survived by her children as well as her husband Sonny Chung, who co-owned the nail salon.
In an interview with NBC 5, Chung said, “[Whipple] ran off for $35 and killed my wife — $35 to run my wife over.”
Police are asking the public to help them locate Whipple. Anyone w/info on her whereabouts is urged to call #LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521.
