Lucy Liu Honored With Star On Walk Of Fame
This has been a long time coming, but after many years, Hollywood actress Lucy Liu has finally received her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Lucy Liu’s star will be placed near that of actress Anna May Wong, a Hollywood pioneer who found silent film success in the 1920s.
Ana Martinez, the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said that Liu’s star was to be unveiled May 1, which is about three weeks before the premiere of the seventh and final season of CBS’ “Elementary,” which stars Liu.
The 50-year-old star rose to fame in the ’90s on the Fox legal comedy-drama “Ally McBeal,” which Liu was a series regular in for three seasons, but ended up appearing in four seasons total. Her work on “Ally McBeal” earned her Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations. Liu’s credits also include “Charlie’s Angels,” the “Kill Bill” franchise, and NBC’s “Southland.”
Liu also became the first Asian American woman to host “Saturday Night Live” in 2000.
In her speech upon receiving her star, Liu said, “Asians have been making movies for a long time. They just weren’t making them here because we weren’t yet invited to the table.”
Liu was joined at the event by her Charlie’s Angels co-stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore as well as her family and friends.
