With college football bowl games starting this weekend, it’s quite fitting that we get to go behind the scenes with the University of Georgia football team to see what it takes to sculpt an elite college football player.
The Bull Dogs are the number two ranked team in the country, and they use Sunday’s for anything and everything but rest. Scott Sinclair, the 2nd year strength and conditioning director, has built their program on squatting.
“I think that’s where your power comes from….” Sinclair says of a squat. He argues that a bench press movement isn’t that functional for football players, but that most of your movements on a football field begin in the squatting position.
