When people list their home or property on Airbnb, they aren’t hoping someone will come ruin their place. Just because Airbnb rentals are often much cheaper and more reasonable in price than a hotel room doesn’t mean guests should be disrespectful of the space. Airbnb hosts have had enough! Needless to say, there are a few no-no’s every Airbnb guest or potential guest should keep in mind before booking one:
1. Breaking the house rules: Every host will have their own house rules, and they will provide you with said list before you book the Airbnb. So, if you don’t want to adhere to the house rules before hand, find a different host that will allow you to partake in the things you wish to partake in.
2. Lying to the host about what you will do there: Don’t turn the location into a party house or a photo shoot location. Be upfront with the host if you plan to do anything out of the norm that may upset any prudent home owner.
3. Lying about the number of guests: Again, be honest with the host about how many people are staying because many have additional fees and charges for additional guests.
4. Disrespecting the surroundings: You would think this one was a no-brainer, but make sure you are careful with their things. After all, the home is still theirs and the items within the home are their possessions. Be courteous and treat the space as if it were yours.
5. Not addressing fixable issues: Don’t wait until it’s time to review the Airbnb to complain about issues that could have easily been fixed during the stay. Talk to the owner if there are easily resolved issues that could be fixed.
