On Thursday, Sept. 27, Ventura County detectives were called to Cher’s Malibu mansion to execute a search warrant on a man related to a recent drug overdose that occurred in Thousand Oaks, California.
TMZ reported that police, a fire truck and an ambulance were all seen at the property, and according to police sources, they arrested Donovan Ruiz for a drug-related offence.
Donovan Ruiz, 23, is the son of Cher’s assistant and was taken into police custody to be questioned in connection with the death of a Ventura County resident who died after a drug overdose in mid-September. Law enforcement sources also said that Ruiz was arrested for a felony of supplying substances to a person who died.
The singer, 72, was not home as she is currently on tour. Cher is currently performing on her “Here We Go Again” tour until Oct. 21 before returning to Las Vegas for a show on Oct. 31.
The tour follows Cher’s role in the recent “Mamma Mia 2 – Here We Go Again” film. Cher also released her similarly themed album of ABBA covers, which include some of the band’s most famous hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia.” But that’s not the only thing the legendary singer is working on. Cher was also reportedly working on “The Cher Show,” an upcoming Broadway musical that is slated to debut on Dec. 3.
