Do you remember Reese’s Puff cereal or cookie Crisps? Well last month, rumors began swirling around about a possible Sour Patch Kids cereal. Well, the rumors prove to be true because soon, Sour Patch kids fans will be able to get their fix of the tangy gummy candy first thing in the morning.
Boxes of Post’s “sour, then sweet” cereal will be available for $3.98 exclusively at Walmart starting Dec. 26, according to Today. The cereal will eventually be available at major retailers nationwide in June 2019.
The cereal is the same size and shape as candy Sour Patch Kids, but tastes like Froot Loops. The cereal is dusted with the signature Sour Patch sour sugar, which quickly dissolves into the milk.
But as interesting as this new cereal sounds, many people are skeptical about the sour sugar dissolving into the milk. When the cereal was first announced, Internet users were worried about the milk turning sour thus ruining the entire bowl of cereal. “Sour” and “milk” are two words consumers typically don’t want to see together. But Post is no doubt hoping the novelty factor will move garner consumer’s interest and curiosity.
Sour Patch Kids has been around since 1970 and was originally known as “Mars Men,” but was renamed in 1985 due to the Cabbage Patch Kids craze.
