For people who can’t be bothered to leave their apartments for their morning coffee, Starbucks announced that it would be expanding its delivery partnership with Uber Eats to 2,000 more U.S. stores, which makes up about a quarter of all Starbucks locations in the country.
The service, called Starbucks Delivers, started out as a pilot program since September in Miami, Tokyo, and a handful of cities in China. The Seattle-based coffee giant says it will be expanding the service to seven more metropolitan areas in the U.S. starting next year.
In the new Starbucks delivery program, if you’re located near one of the selected stores, you will be able to place your Starbucks order through either the Starbucks or Uber Eats app. The option to order Starbucks will only show up if it’s close enough to deliver the coffee while it’s still hot.
Starbucks has offered deliveries through Postmates since 2015, and has even launched a program with Alibaba’s Ele.me (China’s leading food delivery platform) three months ago, which the company claims brought delivery capabilities to 2,000 stores across 30 cities.
In addition to the expanding delivery service, Starbucks will also expand their menu with new beverages. Since the company has identified cold drinks as a growth area, a cold Cloud Macchiato will be available to order.
