When dreaming of a window-seat view on a flight to the Caribbean, one color comes to mind: blue. St. Croix with hit hard by Hurricane Maria, but the beautiful blue water is taking center stage once again. Chamber of Commerce president Edgar Bengoa says 90% of businesses have reopened and power is restored. The island’s oldest hotel, The Buccaneer, is fully operational.
And the first new hotel in 31 years, The Fred, is welcoming visitors to Frederiksted. Traces of Maria’s wrath still remain on roadsides littered with downed trees and power lines. But the people of St. Croix are still welcoming and refuse to let their optimism be dampened. Visit St. Croix now for a taste of that optimistic spirit, which makes it more than a beautiful beach.
