A 29-year-old support worker from Coventry made the finals of PETA’s mail-in beauty contest. The annual Hottest Vegans competition celebrates the nation’s hottest vegans — both male and female — from all over the UK and Ireland.
Cath Kendall, who lives in Stoke, made the final six ‘hottest vegan’ females. There was also six male candidates for the title of ‘Hottest Vegan.’ The 12 finalists chosen by PETA were then put to a public vote before two lucky people — one man and one woman — win the title.
PETA, The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Foundation, is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA selected the finalists based on the enthusiasm they demonstrated in promoting a vegan lifestyle, PETA’s assessment of their attractiveness, and PETA’s assessment of how interesting their story is.
Cath works as a cruelty-free blogger in her spare time and owns a vegan bakery service. Although never knowing such a competition existed, she thought it was a great platform to “shine a light on vegan issues and animal welfare.”
Organizers of the competition approached Cath to enter. After sending in three photos of herself and answering some questions, Cath received an email saying that she had made the final six. Cath has been a vegan for six years and a vegetarian since the age of nine.
“It is purely a plant-based diet,” Kendall said. I eat carbs all day every day. I don’t go to the gym. I just eat all day, but it’s a whole-food, plant-based diet.”
As part of the contest, Kendall has also won a trip for two on the luxury five-night Christmas Markets cruise on Germany and Switzerland’s Rhine and Moselle rivers, courtesy of Vegan Travel.
