Drake has been the inspiration for a lot of the common phrases we throw around today. Unless you are an avid Drake connoisseur, which you very well may be, you may not even realize you’re quoting a Drake-ism. You may begin to wonder if our current pop culture language as we know it, was inspired by the Canadian rapper.
Here are eight amazing song lyrics, by Drake himself, that you are more than likely using in your daily vocabulary:
“Started from the bottom..now we here” Yes, that was Drake who coined that mega phrase.
“You Only Live Once (aka YOLO)” Does this mean that Zac Efron’s “YOLO” hand tattoo was inspired by the Hotline Bling artist himself?
“Zero to one hundred, real quick” There’s always that one friend that says this phrase whenever a situation gets out of hand, as if they created it.
“You da you da best” Ehh, this one may be a stretch for those who still use the word “the” in lieu of “da.”
“You used to call me on my cell phone” *queue corny Hotline Bling dance*
“Running through the six with my woes” Maybe another stretch on this one, but who knows…maybe your Drake knowledge is subconsciously deeper than you knew.
“No new friends” No no new….
“What a time to be alive” One could argue this is an obscure reference from the hit TV show, The Simpsons, but we will let it slide, Drizzy.
