Netflix star to lead next original series “Cursed”
Katherine Langford, star of “13 Reasons Why” and “Love, Simon” goes Arthurian for the new Netflix series “Cursed.” Said to be 10 episodes only, the series is based on Tom Wheeler’s young adult novel of the same name.
As described by Netflix, “Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.”
Langford stars as Nimue and will find an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, as the two set off on their quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will rise to become a symbol of courage and rebellion.

Wheeler’s book “Cursed” is a reimagining of the King Arthur legend from the point of view of the young Nimue, the first woman to wield Excalibur and become the all-powerful Lady of the Lake. To those who are familiar with the story of King Arthur, one key element of the Arthurian mythology is that he wields the magical sword. Though one of the most famous ways he comes by the sword is pulling it out of a stone, Excalibur is usually given to him by the Lady of the Lake.
Images from the production of the Netflix series have been released and preview Langford as Nimue holding what is likely to be Excalibur.
Wheeler will executive produce the series with Frank Miler and serve as writer and showrunner. “Cursed” is scheduled to premiere on Netflix this year.
