It seems no one made the top spot on Santa’s ultimate nice list this year because this could have been a very memorable Christmas for some lucky lottery ticket holder. The jackpot for matching every number in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing was $321 million, with a cash option of an estimated $193.7 million.
Sadly though, the Grinch showed up and there were no winning tickets, lottery officials said. The Mega Millions drawing was only the fifth ever that occurred on Christmas night. The next drawing will be Friday night, with an estimated jackpot of $348 million.
The Christmas night Mega Millions winning numbers were: 2, 8, 42, 43, 50 and MegaBall 6, Megaplier: 3x. While the odds of winning the jackpot are very slim — about one in 302.5 million — it doesn’t mean you have to give up hope.
Prize money is steadily increasing up for Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot is an estimated $294 million, with a cash option of $177.6 million. But no one has won either jackpot since October either.
The last huge Mega Millions jackpot was a $1.5 billion-winning ticket sold in South Carolina. So Christmas may not officially be over for someone. If you were still hoping for a holiday payday of $321 million, then take your chances because you never know who might win.
