We say goodbye to Mr. Peanut and say hello to his adorable new counterpart Baby Nut
As you may recall, Mr. Peanut died tragically by sacrificing his own life to save his commercial co-stars Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes. It was an unexpected Super Bowl ad campaign for Planters, sparking mixed reactions on social media.
But Planters’ newest that aired during the Super Bowl really took viewers by surprise.
Baby Yoda from “The Mandalorian” has some competition it seems because Planters’ new peanut mascot is Baby Nut—a cute baby version of Mr. Peanut complete with a tiny black top hat white gloves and little shoes.
The 30-second ad, titled “Tribute” shows Mr. Peanut’s funeral. Fellow advertising mascots Mr. Clean, the Kool-Aid Man and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, along with Walsh and Snipes came to pay their respects.
But something magical happens. When Kool-Aid man shed a tear, it fell on Mr. Peanut’s grave and a plant sprouted up, along with a Baby Nut.
The Baby Nut Twitter account, which simply says “The official Twitter of Baby Nut. Reborn and bringing everyone together,” already gained 98,000 followers and is still growing.
In an age where Baby Yoda, Baby Groot, porgs (the Star Wars version of puffins) and more, Baby Nut has some competition, but people seem to be loving them all.
