A number of homeowners in Friendswood, Texas have become victims of a so-called ‘beer burglar’. An unknown suspect is going around and reportedly stealing beer out of garage refrigerators.
One affected resident, Greg Shell remarked “Are they that desperate for a beer? The beer is irrelevant at this point; it’s the fact that someone is in my area when they shouldn’t be.”
Shell had about 8 beers swiped from his garage. Several homes in two different neighborhoods were also hit by the beer crook.
Last summer, the same alcohol stealing crime was a problem when over six homes had been hit.
A 19-year-old local man was arrested back in January for those incidents. Law enforcement is unsure if the newest string of beer thefts is related to last years.
The most recent occurrences typically happen late at night when everyone in the house is sleeping. The suspect breaks into the garages and steals the beer before fleeing.
Locals are scared the crimes might escalate and that the beer bandit may soon try getting into houses. For now, residents are urged to ‘lock up their cold ones’ while police work to find the culprit.
