The celebrity couple makes light of the coronavirus
A lot has happened within the span of 24 hours, and one of the things that has people buzzing is the fact that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for COVID-19. Both were in Australia for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley film produced by Warner Bros. Hanks was set to play Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker in the film.
Warner Bros. issued a statement, saying, “we are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.” Hanks shared the news in an Instagram post, saying that he and Wilson have been feeling a bit tired, and suffered from colds and some body aches.
Both have taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of themselves and the people around them. Hanks and Wilson will be isolated for as long as public health officials require, and the two will keep everyone posted and updated.
Chet Hanks, Tom Hanks and Wilson’s son, shared a video message on Instagram updating fans on the status of his parents and thanking everyone for their support following the announcement. “What up everyone. Yeah, it’s true, my parents got coronavirus. Crazy,” said Chet in the video. He went on to say that both his parents are fine and that “they’re not even that sick.”
Many Hollywood celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Jack Black voiced their support for Hanks and Wilson.
