Trust Me, She Speaks From Experience
Imagine living past the age of 100; wouldn’t you want to know the secret to living a long and healthy life? Well, one woman thinks she knows the secret and thankfully she is sharing that secret with the world.
This past Wednesday, Louise Signore turned 107 years old. The Bartow Community Center in Coop City threw her a party celebrating more than a century of her life. Louise was born in Manhattan in 1912, a year where so much took place in our nation’s history. President William Howard Taft was in office and Woodrow Wilson won the November election; New Mexico and Arizona joined the union; the Titanic hit sunk in the Atlantic Ocean, and motorized movie cameras changed the game in Hollywood.
For 107 years old, Louise is still going strong. “She’s got no walking cane, no wheelchair. She does all her shopping. She’s awesome,” her friend Deborah Whitaker told CBS2.
Over the course of her life, Louise happily called the Bronx her home, dancing daily during her golden years and living alone, which she reveals has been the key to less stress.
“I think the secret of 107: I never got married. I think that’s the secret. My sister says ‘I wish I never got married,’” Louise said.
Even to this day, Louise dances and exercises daily, and doesn’t take any medicine aside from high blood pressure pills. One other thing she also contributes her long, happy life to is Italian food.
