Boys can dance too
Last week, Prince George was mocked by “Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer when it was revealed that he would be attending his second year at £18,000-a-year St Thomas’s School in Battersea for ballet.
Discussing the Prince’s school curriculum, Lara on TV: “The future king of England will be putting down the Playdoh to take on Religious Studies, computer programming poetry and ballet among other things.”
Spencer went on to add: “Prince William says George absolutely loves ballet, I have news for you Prince William we’ll see how long that lasts.”
At her last comment, the audience could be heard laughing. But many across the nation weren’t laughing with the U.S. TV host. Many were outraged and several celebrities have since come forward dubbing her comments “outdated.”
As a result, hundreds of dancers attended a group “ballet class” outside the Good Morning America studio in New York to prove that “boys dance too.”
Spencer has since apologized after being branded a “bully” for cruelly mocking Prince George for taking ballet lessons. The TV host backtracked on her comments and said that six-year-old George should just “go for it.”
In an Instagram post, Spencer wrote: “My sincere apologies for an insensitive comment I made in pop news yesterday. From ballet to anything one wants to explore in life, I say GO FOR IT. I fully believe we should all be free to pursue our passions. Go climb your mountain-and love every minute of it.”
