Director Baz Luhrmann Set To Direct
Another biopic on one of the world’s most famous singers is in the works and five A-list Hollywood names are in consideration for the lead role. It is without a doubt that Hollywood is currently in classic-rock fever, with Freddie Mercury and Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Elton John biopic “Rocketman” and the romantic comedy “Yesterday” taking over theaters over the course of this year.
But it doesn’t look like the biopics are going to stop anytime soon. There are loads of real-life stories about some of music’s most venerable pop, rock, and soul icons that are to sure to light up the big screen, and one about Elvis Presley is actually one of them.
“Moulin Rouge!” director Baz Luhrmann is set to direct the story of the famous singing hunk with a film centered on the relationship between Presley and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (to be played by Tom Hanks). According to The Hollywood Reporter, five actors are being considered to play the King: Ansel Elgort (“Baby Driver”), Miles Teller (“Whiplash”), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Nocturnal Animals”), Austin Butler (“Switched at Birth”), and former One Direction singer Harry Styles.
But since the news came out that an Elvis biopic was in the works, another contender has stepped up in interest to play the lead role. G-Eazy has come out saying that he wants to play Elvis.
