The Japanese certainly are risk-takers, and they are known for going above and beyond with their food creations. Whether it’s the cheese-laden “New Yorker 1 kilo Ultimate Cheese” or the Jalapeño-smothered “Tsundere Pizza,” Domino’s Pizza Japan is always on a mission to please the thrill-seekers in life.
As part of a new Halloween promotion, Domino’s Pizza Japan is releasing a special pie with a single slice of pizza spiked with a chili pepper is several hundred times hotter than their Tsundere Pizza.
Coming out Oct. 14, the “Halloween Roulette” pizza features one randomly selected slice spiked with ghost pepper (aka Bhut Jolokia).
If you’re wondering just how hot a ghost pepper is, then you’re in luck because we did the math. The unit of measure used to quantify spiciness in foods is in Scoville units, and Jalapeño peppers range from 2,500 to 8,000, while ghost peppers are between 855,000 and 1,040,000. This means that ghost peppers are minimum 100 times, maximum 400 times hotter than a jalapeño pepper.
Therefore, ghost peppers are at least over 100 times hotter and can be over 400 times hotter than Jalapeños.
Those with brave taste buds can order the “Halloween Roulette” option (one slice selected at random spiked with ghost pepper) free of charge in any medium, regular, or large pizza they order between Oct 14 and Nov 4.
