Santa Is On The Move As He Departs The North Pole

Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you’re sleeping, and knows when you’re awake, he knows if you’ve be bad or good, but now you have eyes on him too. Santa Claus has begun his Christmas Eve journey delivering presents around the world.

Good ol’ jolly Saint Nick will be sliding down our chimneys very soon and helping himself to our cookies and milk, according to the U.S. military command charged with protecting North American airspace.

Every year for 60 years, NORAD radars follow Santa’s sleigh leaving the North Pole, and this year, he departed just after 4 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning. After going over the flight pan with his nine reindeer, Santa gave the “okay” to take off.

His first stops include Russia and Asia, which is perfect since they are a day ahead and are already celebrating Christmas. Those who want to track Santa can do so by accessing NORAD’s official Santa Tracker or by calling 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) to speak live with NORAD trackers.

NORAD uses infrared sensors to pinpoint the glow of Rudolph’s nose and follow the location of Santa’s sleigh. “We are proud to carry on the tradition of tracking Santa as he travels along his yuletide flight path,” said NORAD commander Terrence O’Shaughnessy in a press release.
