The “Twilight” series through Edward’s eyes
Time to think back to those middle school or high school days where girls were head over heels for the “Twilight” books because Stephanie Meyer just made the most exciting new announcement.
Meyer will finally release a new Twilight book this summer, 12 years after the last volume in the original series first came out. The author announced the release in a video message broadcast on “Good Morning America.”
Titled “Midnight Sun,” the book will be released on August 4 by Hachette’s Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and will tell the same story that unfolded in the original installment, but this time from Edward’s voice.
As many may recall, “Twilight” follows the love story of high school student Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen and tells the entire story from Bella’s perspective.

As the publisher’s description reads, “Midnight Sun” is “takes on a new and decidedly dark twist” as Edward meets the “beautiful, mysterious Bella” who is “both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire.”
Fans of the series will learn more details about Edward’s past as well as the complexity of his inner thoughts. Meyer also describes the book as darker and “more desperate” than the original books.
“It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure if it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long. It didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore,” Meyer said in her video announcement.
