Mattel is developing a new movie based on the popular card game
A new trending movie genre is adapting popular games into movies and it seems that Mattel is looking to create a film inspired by the popular Uno card game. Reports indicate Mattel is working closely with rapper Lil Yachty for a hip-hop heist movie adaptation of the Uno card game.
The plot of the film is believed to be an action-comedy heist movie that takes place in the hip-hop underground world of Atlanta. Lil Yachty is looking to products and star alongside Pierre “P” Thomas as well as Kevin “Coach K” of Quality Control.
The executive producer is Mattel’s own Robbie Brenner disclosed, “UNO is a game that transcends generations and cultures and we look forwards to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach K and Brian Sher, to transform the classic UNO game into a comedic action adventure.” Marcy Kelly wrote the screenplay for the Uno movie.
Lil Yachty is excited for this new venture as he is a big fan of Uno playing it frequently while growing up in Atlanta, making the rapper perfect for the role. The rapper says, “I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel. I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”
