1-year-olds eat birthday blood cake, but they're tigers so it's cool

Happy first birthday, Jeremy and Simon! May this triple-tiered cake made entirely of animal blood bring you untold joys.

But there was more to the wild pair’s birthday party than just “bloodsicles.” The white tiger cubs celebrated with dips in the pool and toy balls galore at their home in The Wildcat Santuary, a non-profit, no-kill wildlife shelter in Sandstone, Minnesota. Caretakers also treated the cubs to their favorite snacks, including raw chicken and watermelon.

In the year since their rescue, Jeremy and Simon have already outgrown their temporary home in the sanctuary and will soon move to a much larger space. Currently, the Wildcat Sanctuary is holding a campaign to raise funds for a tiger-sized in-ground pool and tall trees on which tigers like to perch. Donations can be made on the sanctuary’s website.
