One of the most beloved songs from the original “Lion King” soundtrack is getting re-recorded by one of the most influential R&B/Pop stars of our generation!
Beyoncé, who is playing Nala in the upcoming 2019 remake of “The Lion King,” will be singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in the film. Fans of the Disney classic might’ve already guessed this, as the ballad is one of Nala’s biggest songs in the movie.
Billy Eichner, who will play the meerkat Timon, confirmed the news during his appearance on “Watch What Happens Live last night.”
“I play Timon, and Timon and Pumbaa start singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and then it segues into Beyoncé and Donald Glover singing it,” Eichner said.
First recorded by Elton John back in 1993, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” is one of the most top played tracks from “The Lion King” original soundtrack.
Beyoncé’s co-star and co-singer Donald Glover will be playing Simba while Seth Rogen is playing Pumbaa.
The remake of “The Lion King” is currently in production by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is being directed by Jon Favreau, who gained much recognition for his directorial work on “The Jungle Book.” Favreau is also currently serving as the writer and executive producer of “The Mandalorian,” the new “Star Wars” TV series coming to Disney+.
