Korean pop girl group BLACKPINK released their new EP “Kill This Love” and have been making waves and headlines since.
“Kill This Love” is a bilingual banger featuring anthemic group vocals and an infectiously catchy chorus. Directed by veteran director Hyun Seung Seo, the visuals for the song are bright and striking, which is very K-pop style. While K-pop videos are known for their high production values, BLACKPINK elevates the song with killer choreography and visual direction.
Just hours after the release of the music video, “Kill This Love” racked up a record-setting number of views for a K-pop group. At approximately 4:13 a.m. KST on April 5, BLACKPINK’s music video for their new title track surpassed 10 million views on YouTube. In other words, it took just 4 hours and 13 minutes to reach the milestone. This makes it the fastest K-pop group music video ever to hit the 10 million mark, breaking the previous record of 4 hours and 16 minutes set by BTS’s “IDOL” in August of last year.
But more than that, “Kill This Love” arrives just in time for BLACKPINK’s massive American takeover. The group will make Coachella history as the first K-pop girl group to play the Indio, California festival, and they’re following up with some U.S. and European arena dates.
