Chick-fil-A Beats Out The Competition For Top Spot
American teens spent an estimated total of approximately $77.2 billion in 2018, according to investment bank Piper Jaffray. The bank defined teens as members of Generation Z — those born between 1997 and 2012. As found in a survey conducted by the investment bank, teenagers are spending 23 percent of their money on food.
According to Business Insider, Chick-fil-A has nabbed the No. 1 spot in Piper Jaffray’s biannual survey of teenagers across the U.S. The chicken chain took over as teenagers’ favorite restaurant a year ago and comes as the chain has steadily been rising as the fast food obsession among young people.
The chicken chain first made Piper Jaffray’s top-five list in spring 2012 and spent the next five years moving up the list one spot at a time.
But teenagers love more than just Chick-fil-A. In fact, other popular chains took home some tops spots in the latest Piper Jaffray survey:
#5: McDonald’s
#4: Dunkin’ Donuts
#3: Chipotle
#2: Starbucks
#1: Chick-fil-A
