The sound of fan girls’ hearts shattering can be heard all over the world because Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are headed to the altar.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star made the big announcement on his Instagram account early Monday.
“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!” the 39-year-old actor wrote. “I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
Pratt was previously married to actress Anna Faris, but the two announced their separation in 2017 after eight years of marriage. They have one child together.
Since his separation from Farris, Pratt and Schwarzenegger have been quietly dating for several months, but just recently made their first appearance on social media as a couple.
On Schwarzenegger’s 29th birthday last month, Pratt wrote in an Instagram post that he was “thrilled” to be with the author.
When building up to pop the question to Schwarzenegger, Chris wanted to ask Katherine’s dad — Arnold Schwarzenegger — for his blessing before he went to propose to her. And even though Chris is all big and tough looking, Pratt revealed he was a ball of nerves when it came time to ask Arnold.
In an interview with “Extra,” Pratt said: “Well, you know, I think any person who appreciates a tradition and asks a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage…it’s inevitably going to be something that makes you a little nervous. But that’s sort of the beauty of it, you know?”
Faris congratulated the newly engaged couple on Pratt’s Instagram post, writing “I’m so happy for you both!”
