Brandon Johnson has been identified as Demi Lovato’s drug dealer, but despite his very open and seemingly incriminating interview with TMX last week, he will not face any sort of police investigation.
Johnson told the tabloid about the night of Lovato’s overdose and the drugs he gave her, saying the singer “100 percent knew what she was taking.”
At the end of July, Lovato overdosed on Oxycodone that was laced with fentanyl. In the four-minute interview, Johnson also revealed that he “[D]isclosed to her that these are not pharmaceutical, they’re after-market pills, they’re much stronger.”
“It was unfortunate what happened…I’m not here to hurt anybody, I care for her very much,” Johnson said.
Johnson has previously been arrested for gun possession, cocaine possession and driving under the influence. But despite his critical role in an incident that almost left the singer dead and his TMZ interview, he won’t face any new charges. This is because overdoses are considered a self-induced media emergency and not a criminal act.
Johnson even went as far as to comment on Lovato’s use of drugs. He claimed Demi’s overdose helped “open his eyes to the dangers of these drugs.”
“They’re fun, but in the wrong hands…they can be harmful. I hate to hurt anybody,” Johnson said. “I’m not trying to hurt my friend…I hope she comes through this better than she was.”
Lovato is current receiving treatment at a rehab facility. TMZ also reported that the singer would be selling her home in L.A. where the overdose took place.
