Disney wants to re-aquire Spider-Man
It’s been about a month now since news broke that Spider-Man may no longer appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because of a dispute between Sony and Disney. Tom Holland’s version of the hero was booted from the MCU because the two production companies failed to reach a new agreement in regards to sharing the character.
Since then, reports said that Spider-Man would no longer appear alongside the Avengers but would still have his own standalone movies in the future. However, rumors have been circling that Sony and Disney are holding talks again, so there may still be hope for them to come to a new deal.
The House of Mouse is pretty serious about getting Spidey back; “Far From Home” was a massive success on its own, and fans have been crying to see more of Spidey alongside the Avengers. Disney is reportedly considering buying the rights to the character outright instead of figuring out a new deal with Sony.
Sony originally had a price of $10 billion for a full buyout for the rights, but as everyone learned, Disney had no intention of paying that. Things could still go either way, but instead of reaching or deal or letting Sony take over completely, the possibility of just buying Spider-Man back is definitely on the table.
