Disney Considering Acquiring Entertainment Company
According to one industry investor, Disney should think about acquiring interactive entertainment company Activision Blizzard should be put up for a potential buyout. While there is no information or reports confirming that this would be the case, investment advisor representative Nick Licouris seems to think it would be a good idea and a great movie for The Walt Disney Company to enter the world of gaming.
Licouris, who works for investment company Gerber Kawasaki Inc., stated in an interview with Bloomberg that there would be benefits in merging Disney’s television networks and Activision Blizzard’s esports presence. He indicated that it would be an opportunity for Disney to use some of the gaming the characters for its films and TV shows.
The possibility of a buyout comes amid Activision’s share prices dropping in the last few months. Disney already televises major esports eventS like Overwatch League, which is one of Blizzard’s most famous titles.
However, back in February Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that the company wouldn’t get back into publishing games. As reported by Variety, Disney was “good at making movies, and television shows, and theme parks, and cruise ships, and the like,” but have never managed to quite get it right when it came to publishing games.
