Dogs Don’t Really Get How Climate Works

It’s not fun when ice claims the things you care about. Your boots, your baseball bat, the front wheels of your car; we need those things, but winter is always eager to take them from us. This is not a frustration exclusive to humans, as Shiloh the beagle has just found out.

All Shiloh wanted was to play with his favorite tennis ball. It was right where he left it on the ground outside. Sure, the ground was a little whiter than he remembered, but Shiloh doesn’t judge fashion choices, he just wants his ball. But the frozen ground has claimed it. The ball’s lower half is encased in ice, and lacking opposable thumbs, poor Shiloh can’t grab it.

After prodding at it for a few minutes, all Shiloh can think to do is try and shout his problems away. Ice cannot be reasoned with, however, and his howls fall on deaf ears. In the end, it falls to Shiloh’s owner to free the ball from winter’s grasp with a well-placed kick.

Not one to question good fortune, Shiloh immediately grabs it and runs off to play. It’s probably a bit colder and harder than he remembers, but it’s his ball, and that’s all that matters.
