Doritos' Super Bowl ads are back, and Aussies are crunching the competition
We might be a little biased towards the Australians, but we think they’re prettyawesome at making ads.
The Doritos annual ‘Crash the Superbowl’ advertising competition has attracted its fair share of Aussie entries in the past, with 2016 being the third year in a row that a finalist has made it into the top three from Down Under. And we don’t even play gridiron down here.
This year’s Australian finalist entry is called “Ultrasound,” and you can’t tell there are Aussies acting in the clip — the American accents are that good. Three finalists are chosen from around the world for ‘Crash the Superbowl,’ with the winner getting the ad shown during the Super Bowl and a cool US$1 million (A$1.39 million), plus the chance to work with Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel and Watchmen.
Sadly, despite repeat entries, an Aussie has never won the competition overall. Is there something you don’t like about Australians, world?
