A baseball fan behind home plate at the Pirates-Cubs game Monday night took a fall — after a foul ball hit her hard in the back of the head.
The netting behind home plate at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park failed to protect the woman as Cubs player Starlin Castro knocked a ball backwards in the second inning. The woman grabbed her head and collapsed as other fans looked on in shock.
In extended video of the incident, MLB announcers suggest that the woman “might have been too close to that net.”
Medical personnel removed the woman on a stretcher, and the game resumed after a 22 minute delay.

After the incident, the Pirates and Cubs both tweeted out messages of support to the injured fan.
