Democratic Primary Debate To Come To South Florida
Miami traffic is in for a worse time than normally come summer.
The first Democratic Primary debate for the 2020 presidential election will be held in South Florida at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing arts in Miami. The debate is to take place in June on the 26 and 27.
“The DNC has chosen a perfect location in the Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami,” Florida Democratic Party chairwoman Terrie Rizzo said in a statement, as reported by the Sun Sentinel, “The venue is located in the cultural crossroads of Florida and in the heart of one of the fastest growing multi-cultural communities in the United States. I can think of no better place for our Democratic candidates to introduce themselves to Florida and the country.”
In March, the Democratic National Committee announced that the first debates will be hosted in Miami and recently revealed the location. Major news networks including MSNBC, NBA, and Telemundo will be hosting the debates and broadcasting the event from 9 to 11 pm each night.
There are 20 candidates in total that will take part in the debate, and 10 will go on each night. In order to qualify, candidates must either meet thresholds of 1 percent in national polls or in early primary states or receive contributions from 65,000 donors, with at least 200 of them in each of at least 20 states.
