Everyone is prepping for a Hurricane this weekend instead of parties
Hurricane Dorian has now strengthened into a Category 2 storm moving toward Florida and it is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane Friday as it moves over the warm, open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Dorian is expected to strengthen into a Category 4 and slam into the U.S. on Tuesday, however, the storms exact path remains unknown still, with a large cone of uncertainty engulfing much of the State. However, it is expected to hit the U.S. somewhere between the Florida Keys and southern Georgia.
Because the storm will slow down considerably over the warm open waters, it will allow the storm time to pick up strength.
With the storm’s track still unclear, no immediate mass evacuations have been ordered. In preparation, Florida residents have already picked the shelves clean of bottled water and non-perishable foods and are lining up at gas stations to fill their tanks and gasoline containers.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency, clearing the way to bring in more fuel. Georgia’s governor has followed suit.
For those residing in the state of Florida, don’t panic, at least not about hurricane supplies. Make sure you have the basics: food, water, and gas. Additionally, make sure you take the necessary precautions such as putting up any shutters, removing loose objects that may be lying around outside, and retrieving any sandbags is necessary.
