Jamie Oliver's rap with Ed Sheeran is … something else

LONDON — “My name is Jamie Oliver I’m here to stay. I want to talk about Food Revolution Day. Half the world is starving with too little to eat, and the other half die from being obese.”

Thus begins Jamie Oliver’s new music video with Ed Sheeran, Paul McCartney, Professor Green, Alesha Dixon, Hugh Jackman and a choir of kids dressed as vegetables promoting Food Revolution Day.

“I am honestly lost for words and so I’ll let this video do all the talking,” Oliver said, posting the clip to Facebook.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

While the rapping’s a bit cringeworthy (“Don’t give up the day job Jamie,” Green advises), the cause is worthy.

Oliver and his happy-to-be-embarrassed buddies are promoting a petition aiming to persuade the governments of G20 countries to provide food education in schools which has already garnered over 940,000 signatures.

Sign it and share it, they ask. You might even get a kiss from Ed Sheeran.
