Check Your Flour, It Might Be Recalled

Did you recently buy a bag of flour with the intention of baking something delicious? Well better check your kitchen pantry because your bag of flour may be at risk with E. coli.

According to the safety alert posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website, select bags of King Arthur Flour have been recalled for possible E. coli contamination.

In total, 14,218 cases of 5-pound bags unbleached all-purpose flour were voluntarily recalled: “due to the potential presence of Escherichia coli bacteria (E. coli).” The bags of flour were distributed through retailers including Target and Walmart, and distributors nationwide.

“King Arthur has been informed by ADM Milling Co. that certain wheat used to make these lots of King Arthur flour has been linked to an ongoing outbreak of E. coli infections,” King Arthur said in a statement. “No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with King Arthur Flour.”

Not too long ago, Aldi and ADM recalled 5-pound bags of Baker’s Corner All Purpose Flour sold at select Aldi stores in 11 states due to a possible E. coli contamination as well. If you are a customer that has already bought a bag of King Arthur flour, you can return it to local stores for a credit or refund.
